Assistant Professor of History and East Asian Studies, specializes in modern Chinese history. She came to Princeton in 2006, after completing her Ph.D. at Yale. Her research focuses on urban poverty and social change in the twentieth century. She is concurrently completing a book titled Guilty of Indigence: The Urban Poor in China, 1900-1951. Email:
